Devart, a provider of software development tools oriented toward database development, released version 2.70 of its visual file- and folder-comparison tool, Code Compare Pro and the free version of the tool, Code Compare. Version 2.70 takes into account specificities of different programming languages to make source-code comparison more efficient.

Code Compare 2.70 includes these new features:
  • Support for 64-bit mode: You can now open large files in standalone Code Compare.
  • Enhanced assistance during conflicts resolution: New features include highlighting and navigation through merge conflicts, support for inserts before/after selected text blocks, and buttons to move all changes in files and folders at once.
  • Rules-based folder comparison: the ability to ignore spaces, line breaks, and symbol case when comparing files in folders.
  • More options when choosing files for comparison: independent file and folder history for each pane and automatic file choosing in inactive panes.
  • Support for additional languages: syntax highlight for ActionScript and for Tcl/Tk.
  • More convenient integration into version control systems and Windows Explorer, including options for automatic integration into version control systems and the ability to enable/disable integration into Windows Explorer after installation.
Code Compare requires .NET Framework 3.5 or 4.0 to be installed. The free download of Code Compare 2.70 also includes a free 30-day trial of Code Compare Pro.
